Ultra runner Zainul Abedin, famously known as the “Moradabad Express,” once again ran on a treadmill in a bid for a world record. On Wednesday, marking the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he amazed everyone by running on a treadmill for 12 hours. A large crowd gathered at Company Bagh from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. to watch Zainul run.
In 2022, at Pilikothi Chauraha, he ran 65 kilometers on a treadmill and secured his name in the India Book of Records. This time, by running 68 kilometers in 12 hours, he has staked his claim to have his name entered in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Zainul said that this run was part of the Fit India Movement in memory of the former Prime Minister. He also honored the Moradabad Police during the event. Zainul mentioned that along with paying tribute to the former Prime Minister, he wanted to express his gratitude to the police through this event. MLC Jaipal Singh Vyast, Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh, DIG Muniraj G, DM Anuj Singh, SSP Satpal Antil, SP Rural Akash Singh, Sardar Gurvinder Singh, and others encouraged Zainul. SP City Kumar Ranvijay Singh and Deputy City Imam Mufti Fahad also joined Zainul on the treadmill.
Zainul has brought glory to the city multiple times.
Zainul Abedin has represented the city in major competitions across the country, earning recognition numerous times. On July 23, 2018, he started a run from India Gate to honor women. In this run, he covered the distance from Delhi to Agra, Agra to Jaipur, and back to Delhi, completing it in seven days and 22 hours. This feat was recorded in the India Book of Records in 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he ran 50 kilometers to honor the police, who risked their lives for public safety. In 2022, he ran 65 kilometers on a treadmill continuously for 12 hours. Later, he ran from Prayagraj to Moradabad to raise awareness about cleaning the Ganga River.
