The Trapp family from Esko, Minnesota, officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s tallest family, has opened up about the unique challenges that come with their extraordinary height.
The five-member family — Scott, Krissy, Savanna, Molly, and Adam Trapp — collectively stand at an average height of 203.29 cm (6 ft 8.03 in). Leading the towering lineup is Adam, who measures an astonishing 221.71 cm (7 ft 3 in), followed by Savanna (6 ft 8 in), Molly (6 ft 6 in), Scott (6 ft 8 in), and Krissy (6 ft 3 in).
In December 2020, Guinness World Records officially crowned them the tallest family on the planet, a recognition that brought them global fame — but also a spotlight on the physical and practical difficulties they face daily.
“The growing pains were unreal,” Savanna shared, recalling her teenage years. “I have stretch marks on the back of my legs, and if I stand up too fast, I sometimes faint.”
Beyond health concerns, the family also deals with everyday inconveniences — from ducking under doorways and struggling to fit into cars to enduring frustrating shopping trips for clothes and shoes that fit.
Despite these challenges, the Trapps embrace their height with pride. “We’ve learned to use it to our advantage,” said Molly, who hopes to continue her family’s “tall legacy” with future generations. Savanna, meanwhile, dreams of a career in modelling or acting, and even aspires to break the record for the largest hands on a living woman — currently held by Rumeysa Gelgi of Turkey.
The Trapp family’s inspiring story serves as a reminder that extraordinary traits come with both beauty and challenges, and that embracing one’s uniqueness is the true measure of strength.
