Marking its golden jubilee, Sintex, India’s most trusted name in water management solutions, has achieved a historic milestone by earning a Guinness World Record. The company mobilized over 31,000 people in 24 hours to pledge responsible water storage and usage, championing a crucial nationwide awareness campaign.
The record-setting initiative was launched as part of Sintex’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, focusing on one of India’s most critical public health concerns: waterborne diseases and improper household water storage.
The Guinness World Record was achieved for ‘The Most Pledges Received for a Water Conservation Campaign in 24 Hours’. Participants from across India, including employees, partners, and communities, submitted their commitment through a digital platform.
The core of the pledge focused on a simple yet vital action:
“I pledge to store non-drinking & drinking water in hygienic condition by regularly cleaning the water storage unit in order to prevent any water contamination and ensuring the safety of my family.”
Yashovardhan Agarwal, Director at Sintex & MD at Welspun BAPL Ltd., emphasized the deeper purpose behind the achievement.
“This is an iconic moment for Sintex, with 50 years of legacy and leadership in water storage tanks. Water contamination and improper storage continue to pose serious public health risks in India, contributing significantly to the spread of waterborne diseases,” said Mr. Agarwal. “Every pledge collected and every individual reached is a step towards a more responsible and clean water-conscious India. This record-setting achievement marks just the beginning of a larger movement!”
India continues to face a significant health burden from unsafe water, with common issues like diarrhoea remaining a leading cause of childhood mortality. Sintex’s initiative seeks to address this by drawing attention to basic household practices—like regular cleaning of water storage units—that can drastically reduce contamination.
From pioneering water tanks to offering end-to-end water management solutions today, Sintex’s 50th-anniversary record underscores its commitment to innovation, reliability, and securing a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable water future for the country.
