Nitish Kumar Set to Be Sworn-In as Bihar Chief Minister for Record Tenth Time

Veteran political leader Nitish Kumar is set to script history once again as he prepares to take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time, following his unanimous election as the Janata Dal (United) legislative party leader on Wednesday. Later in the day, he will also be formally chosen as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, clearing the final hurdle for his record-breaking return.

At 74 years old, Kumar remains one of India’s most seasoned and influential regional leaders. He is expected to submit his resignation from the outgoing administration, in keeping with constitutional protocol, before being sworn in again at a grand ceremony scheduled for 20 November, 11:30 AM, at the iconic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

Alongside Nitish Kumar, at least 20 ministers are likely to take the oath, marking the formation of a refreshed NDA government in the state. Several new faces from JD(U), BJP, and alliance partners may be included, while some seasoned ministers are also expected to retain key portfolios.

The new cabinet is likely to prioritize:
Infrastructure expansion
Employment generation
Strengthening law and order
Women-centric welfare schemes
Rural development and social security
A Political Journey That Continues to Define Bihar

Nitish Kumar’s return for the 10th time underscores his enduring relevance in Bihar’s political landscape. Known for his focus on governance, social reforms, and a reputation for administrative discipline, Kumar has led several coalition governments since 2005.

Despite political shifts and changing alliances over the years, his leadership continues to receive strong backing from his party and the NDA, with leaders emphasizing the need for stability and experienced governance.

The oath-taking ceremony at Gandhi Maidan, one of Bihar’s most symbolic public grounds, is expected to draw thousands of supporters, senior political leaders, and dignitaries. Security arrangements have been intensified across Patna ahead of the event.

As Bihar prepares for another chapter under Nitish Kumar’s stewardship, political observers believe the incoming government faces both high expectations and significant challenges—particularly in employment, economic growth, and public welfare.

But for now, the state stands on the brink of witnessing a historic milestone: a leader taking charge for the tenth time, a rarity in Indian politics.
