Bareilly’s Aditya Attempts World Record for Continuous Reading

In an inspiring demonstration of patience and sheer mental resolve, Aditya Shankar Gangwar, a resident of CBganj, Bareilly, has commenced a grueling attempt to enter the Guinness World Records for the Longest Marathon Reading Aloud.

At 9:30 am on Saturday morning, Aditya began reading a book with the ambitious goal of continuing for 220 consecutive hours—a journey spanning over nine days—all while undertaking a challenging fast.

The Challenge of Concentration and Stamina
Aditya is targeting the current world record of 215 hours set by Samson Ajao of Nigeria in 2024. The attempt requires incredible physical and mental sacrifice:

220 Hours Non-Stop: Aditya must read aloud continuously, with no more than a 30-second pause between reading materials.

Minimal Rest: He is permitted only a five-minute break for every hour of reading, which he can accumulate. During these short breaks, he can consume only water, juice, tea, or coffee.

Nine-Day Fast: The most formidable challenge is his self-declared commitment to remain without any solid food for the entire duration of the nine-day reading marathon.

The journey began with the book, ‘Manzil Aur Bhi Hain – Kuch Khud Badle Kuch Duniya Badle’, but his reading material will be diverse, spanning novels, management texts, and finance books to maintain concentration and satisfy the guidelines.

Under Strict Surveillance
Aditya’s father, Shankar Lal Gangwar, confirmed that the family received official Guinness World Records approval eight months ago. To ensure the authenticity of the record and strict adherence to all rules, a dedicated team of 24 observers is monitoring Aditya in shifts, with multiple cameras providing 24-hour video recording.

An M.Ed. student also committed to social service, Aditya’s long-held desire to set a world record is now playing out as a powerful antidote to the modern-day distraction of digital screens. If successful, his achievement will not only bring him personal acclaim but also shine a spotlight on Bareilly, reminding the world that with determination and willpower, no challenge is impossible.
