Renowned Indian artist Zakir Hussain Khan, a professional artist from Bengaluru, India, has created history by producing the world’s largest oil painting on cloth, themed on the sacred Masjid Al Nabawi. The monumental artwork measures an extraordinary 17 meters x 20 meters, covering an area of approximately 3584.54 square feet, and has officially set a New World Record.
The record-breaking masterpiece was completed on 9th October 2025 in Madina City, Saudi Arabia, using a wide range of oil paint colors and advanced professional techniques. The painting stands as a remarkable fusion of artistic excellence, spiritual inspiration, and technical mastery, reflecting the grandeur and sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites.
The historic record was virtually adjudicated and officially approved from India by Mr. Pavankumar Solanki, Managing Editor of World Records India, who verified the dimensions, process, and compliance of the artwork as per international record guidelines and accorded formal recognition to the achievement.
The ambitious painting project received strong institutional support from the Madina Development Authority, in association with HAYY Development Company, whose collaboration played a vital role in facilitating this landmark artistic endeavor.
In addition to this milestone, Zakir Hussain Khan also achieved the Guinness World Record for the largest professional oil painting by a single artist, measured at 333 square meters (3584 ft² 54 in²). This prestigious record was officially recognized on 15 November 2025 in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia, further cementing his place in global art history.
Speaking on the achievement, Zakir Hussain Khan expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support received and stated that the artwork was created as a tribute to faith, devotion, and the universal message of peace symbolized by Masjid Al Nabawi.
