NDMC to Attempt Guinness World Record with 10-km Live Canvas Painting at Kartavya Path

In a monumental display of art and patriotism, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is set to attempt a Guinness World Record by organizing the world’s largest live canvas painting event. The initiative, titled ‘Viksit Bharat ke Rang, Kala ke Sang’, will see over 40,000 artists collaborating on a 10-kilometer-long canvas at the lawns of Kartavya Path on Friday.

The event is being held as part of ‘Seva Parv’, a series of nationwide celebrations commemorating the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Organized in collaboration with Triveni Kala Sangam and Delhi University, the artistic spectacle is a tribute to India’s cultural vibrancy and the vision of a developed nation.

NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal expressed confidence that the massive effort would easily surpass the current world record of 5,084 artists painting together, which was set in Panama in 2014. “September 19 will be a historic day when all previous records of live painting will be broken,” Chahal said.

The event will bring together a diverse group of artists, from school and college students to professional painters and rural artisans. Several Padma awardees and renowned artists, including Jatin Das, Biman B. Bas, and Adwaita Gadanayak, are among the thousands of participants. According to the NDMC, over 41,000 registrations have been received, with nearly 60% of the participants being women.

The continuous painting, with the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India), is billed as the world’s largest live art event. It is expected to not only set a new record but also foster a sense of collective creativity and national pride.
