Singapore Sets Triple Guinness World Record with Dazzling Projection Show on UOB Plaza

Singapore’s skyline has become the stage for a groundbreaking visual spectacle, as a projection-mapping show on the 280-metre-tall UOB Plaza 1 has officially set three Guinness World Records, earning global acclaim for its scale, innovation, and artistry.

The extraordinary show, titled UNITY, has broken records for:

  • The largest light output in a projected image (5.85 million lumens)
  • The longest architectural projection-mapped display (temporary)
  • The highest projection image on a building

Spanning over 250 million pixels on Singapore’s joint-second-tallest building in Raffles Place, the display marks a historic achievement in large-scale digital art.

Launched on 28 June and running until 9 August, the projection series honors both the 90th anniversary of United Overseas Bank (UOB) and the 60th anniversary of Singapore’s independence (SG60).

Presented in collaboration with multimedia firm Hexogon Solution, UNITY uses immersive animation and precision projection mapping to tell two powerful stories: one of a financial institution’s growth, and another of a nation’s journey.

The UOB90 animation unfolds in three acts over six minutes:

  1. Origins – Highlighting UOB’s humble beginnings through animations that play across the building’s unique architecture and surrounding river landscape.
  2. Legacy & Culture – Celebrating achievements using traditional Asian artistic styles like wayang kulit, watercolor, and metalwork, including portraits of women in Singapore’s economic development.
  3. Future Forward – Imagining a world where technology and nature co-exist harmoniously, symbolizing UOB’s vision for sustainable progress.

Alongside UOB90, a special SG60 projection pays tribute to Singapore’s multicultural spirit. The show includes “Majulah Singapura,” a contemporary work by artist Sam Lo, celebrating national unity and resilience.

Janet Young, UOB’s Head of Group Channels, Digitalisation, Strategic Communications and Brand, said:

“The projection showcase is our way of giving back, offering a record-breaking visual spectacle for the community, both for those based here and those visiting from overseas. It’s a celebration of our shared journey.”

With UNITY, Singapore not only lights up its skyline, but also reaffirms its position as a global leader in creative innovation, public art, and national pride — all while setting the bar (and the building) higher than ever before.
