Ruhi Navneet Rathod, a 10-year-old adventurer from Mumbai, Maharashtra, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the youngest girl in the world to complete the Chadar Frozen River Trek expedition at Leh Ladakh.
Born on December 18, 2014, Ruhi successfully completed the challenging 65-kilometer trek over the frozen Zanskar River, from Zaar to Tsomo Paldar and back, navigating the harsh terrain at an altitude of 11,123 feet and enduring bone-chilling temperatures that dropped between -30°C to -35°C. The expedition took place over five days from January 28 to February 1, 2025, following the new Government Route.
Her incredible achievement was officially confirmed by World Records India on February 2, 2025, setting a new benchmark for young adventurers worldwide. The trek was supported and certified by Geographic Tours, Leh, under certificate number GT/CH/0107/2025.
Ruhi’s determination and courage to take on such a formidable challenge at such a young age has inspired adventurers and families alike. “It was tough, but I was excited to see the frozen river and walk on the ice,” she said with a beaming smile.
Her achievement stands as a testament to the spirit of exploration and resilience in India’s youth, proving that no dream is too big, no adventure too distant, and no challenge insurmountable.
