UAE-based telecom giant du has officially entered the Guinness World Records after successfully completing the longest promotional livestream in collaboration with TikTok Live MENA. The landmark event saw a single smartphone livestream continuously for 48 hours straight over du’s powerful 5G network, seamlessly connecting the country’s seven emirates.
The livestream, held from April 11-13, wasn’t just a record attempt — it was a spectacular showcase of the UAE’s diverse landscapes and du’s cutting-edge 5G capabilities. Content creators from across the Emirates participated, engaging in adrenaline-pumping activities like kayaking in Abu Dhabi, ziplining in Ras Al Khaimah, and floating in hot air balloons over the deserts of Dubai and Sharjah.
A representative from Guinness World Records certified the record, making it an official entry under the category of “longest promotional livestream.”
Du proudly announced that the entire 48-hour broadcast was free from drops, lag, or any technical disruptions — a testament to the strength and reliability of its 5G network, which now covers 99% of the UAE.
“This was more than just a world record. It was a live demonstration of the next-level experience our 5G network offers — high speed, ultra-reliability, and seamless connectivity, even across challenging terrains and during high-movement activities,” du said in a statement on Thursday.
The event also served as a marketing triumph, blending entertainment with technology to engage audiences on TikTok while reinforcing du’s position as a leader in UAE’s telecom sector.
With this record, du and TikTok have not only etched their names in the books but also set a new benchmark for promotional livestreaming powered by 5G technology.
