“Vigyan Samagam: India’s Mega Science Exhibition Showcasing Global Research Contributions (2019)”

Vigyan Samagam, a mega science exhibition, was launched in May 2019 in India. It was an 11-month-long traveling exhibition that showcased India’s involvement in global scientific research.

To educate and inspire students, researchers, and the public about India’s scientific contributions.

To highlight India’s role in major international science projects like:

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (Switzerland)

India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO)

International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER, France)

Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR, Germany)

Square Kilometre Array (SKA, South Africa & Australia)

Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT, USA)

The exhibition traveled to four major cities:

Mumbai (May – July 2019)

Bengaluru (July – September 2019)

Kolkata (November – December 2019)

Delhi (January – March 2020)

Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India

Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India

National Council of Science Museums (NCSM)

It helped create awareness about India’s scientific and technological advancements.

Encouraged young minds to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Strengthened India’s global collaborations in science.
