Himachal’s Mandi’s Collective Kanya Pujan Registered in the Limca Book of Records

During the International Shivratri Festival in Mandi, Himachal, a collective worship of 1008 girls was performed at Seri Maidan with the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.” This activity has been included in the Limca Book of Records 2020.

The official notification was sent to the district administration via email by the Limca Book of Records management on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner Rigved Thakur confirmed this. He stated that the inclusion of Mandi’s name in the Limca Book of Records 2020 is a matter of pride for the residents of the district as well as the entire state.

This year, during the International Shivratri Fair, a program of collective worship of 1008 girls was held for the first time at Seri Maidan on March 9, connecting ancient traditions with the safety of daughters.

Through the worship of girls aged 4 to 10 years, the event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of daughters and promote a shift in the negative mindset of gender discrimination. The initiative also sought to encourage people to adopt values from rich cultural traditions.

It is also worth noting that the message of this campaign is being spread to every household by involving youth through the Red Cross Youth Wing. The Deputy Commissioner congratulated the district’s residents for this remarkable achievement.
