Renowned Indian chef Vishnu Manohar has etched his name into history by creating a 1,111-kilogram finger millet (ragi) pudding, setting a new Guinness World Record at the Koya Krushi Kumbh in Telangana. The massive culinary feat celebrated not just scale, but also the nutritional and cultural importance of traditional Indian grains.
The record-breaking pudding was prepared live at the agricultural and cultural festival, drawing huge crowds of farmers, food enthusiasts, and visitors. Made primarily from finger millet, a grain known for its high calcium and iron content, the dish highlighted the importance of millets in sustainable farming and healthy diets.
Chef Vishnu Manohar, known for promoting Indian cuisine and native ingredients, said the attempt was aimed at encouraging people to rediscover millets, which were once staple foods but have declined in everyday consumption. The preparation involved a large team of chefs and volunteers, ensuring hygiene, accurate measurements, and strict adherence to Guinness World Records guidelines.
Officials confirmed that the pudding met all verification standards, including weight, ingredients, and public witnessing. After the record was certified, the pudding was distributed among attendees, reinforcing the festival’s message of community sharing and food security.
The Koya Krushi Kumbh focuses on empowering farmers, promoting organic agriculture, and preserving traditional knowledge. This world-record achievement added global visibility to the event and showcased how food, culture, and sustainability can come together on an international stage.
