A team of world record-holding Indian mountaineers arrived in Jamshedpur on Monday and formally launched a state-wide padyatra across Jharkhand, aiming to spread awareness about adventure sports, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment.
The mountaineers, known for scaling some of the world’s most challenging peaks and setting international records, were given a warm welcome by local citizens, sports enthusiasts, and youth groups upon their arrival in the steel city. The padyatra marks the next phase of their nationwide outreach initiative.
Speaking to the media, the team said the journey through Jharkhand is designed to inspire young people to take up mountaineering and outdoor sports, while also highlighting the importance of discipline, resilience, and teamwork. They also emphasized the need to protect natural resources, especially forests and mountain ecosystems.
During the padyatra, the mountaineers will pass through multiple districts of Jharkhand, interacting with students, local communities, and sports organizations. Special sessions will be held at schools and colleges where they will share personal experiences from high-altitude expeditions and discuss the physical and mental challenges of mountaineering.
Organizers said the initiative also aims to promote Jharkhand’s potential in adventure tourism and encourage the state’s youth to explore careers in sports and defense services. Local authorities and sports bodies have extended support to ensure the smooth conduct of the journey.
