Renowned Bharatanatyam artiste Vidushi Deeksha Ramakrishna is set to attempt a unique world record with an innovative singing-dance performance based on the classical compositions of saint-poet Sri Purandara Dasa. The event, titled “Purandara Gana Nartana,” will take place on January 3, 2026 at the Nutana Ravindra Mantapa of MGM College, Udupi, aiming for recognition in the Golden Book of World Records.
Vidushi Deeksha Ramakrishna — an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, Zee Kannada Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Season 13 finalist, two-time ETV Ede Tumbi Haaduvenu winner, acclaimed film playback singer, and AIR B-High Grade artiste — will present the solo performance beginning at 9 am, accompanied by seasoned musicians on harmonium and tabla. The performance blends vocal music with classical dance, celebrating the timeless musical and devotional legacy of Purandara Dasa.
The programme will be inaugurated by Dr Manish Vishnoi, Asia Head of the Golden Book of World Records, and will feature a host of esteemed dignitaries, cultural leaders and performers. The event is expected to draw audiences from across the region and conclude with a cultural showcase including group dance presentations on January 4, 2026.
This record attempt highlights the rich heritage of Carnatic music and classical dance while offering a fresh artistic expression that honours one of South India’s most revered musical saints.
