Shoshoni Youth Sets World Record with Largemouth Bass Catch

A local young angler is making waves in the fishing community after setting a new world record. Tucker Bass, 12, of Shoshoni, Wyoming, has officially claimed a Junior 4-Pound Line Class world record with his largemouth bass catch, recognized by the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) in November 2025.

On August 9, 2025, Bass landed a 2-pound, 4-ounce largemouth bass at Lake Cameahwait — known locally as Bass Lake — near Shoshoni. The impressive catch was certified by the IGFA after months of review, marking a remarkable achievement for the young angler.

The world-record catch took place while Bass was fishing with his father from a two-person kayak, using a rod and reel gifted to him by his grandfather and a Northland tungsten jig typically used for ice fishing. Officials from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department praised the accomplishment as an exciting example of youth passion and skill in outdoor sports.

In addition to the world record, Bass also earned Trophy Angler status through the state’s Master Angler program and has completed multiple challenges in the department’s Youth Fishing Challenge, highlighting his dedication to the sport.
