longest snake ever kept in captivity belongs to a remarkable reticulated python named Medusa, officially recognised by Guinness World Records for her extraordinary length. Medusa, owned by Full Moon Productions Inc. and residing at The Edge of Hell haunted attraction in Kansas City, Missouri, was measured on 12 October 2011 at an incredible 7.67 metres (25 ft 2 in) long a world-record length for a snake in captivity.
Reticulated pythons (Malayopython reticulatus) are known as the longest snake species on Earth, regularly exceeding 6 metres in the wild, and some historical accounts suggest lengths up to around 10 metres in wild specimens but Medusa’s captive measurement holds the official Guinness title.
At the time of measurement, Medusa weighed around 158.8 kg (350 lb) and required 15 people to hold her straight for accurate recording underscoring her massive size and strength. Despite her unusual home inside a haunted attraction, Medusa has become a celebrated reptile celebrity, delighting visitors and snake enthusiasts alike with her calm temperament and majestic scale.
