Switzerland has once again demonstrated its leadership in renewable innovation by unveiling the world’s largest foldable solar roof, a groundbreaking structure that has officially secured a new world record and captured global attention.
The record-setting installation, located on the outskirts of Zürich, spans an extraordinary 13,500 square meters and features thousands of ultralight, flexible photovoltaic panels engineered to fold and unfold like a giant mechanical canopy. The project was developed by SolFlex Innovations, a Swiss clean-energy company known for pioneering adaptive solar technologies.
Designed to withstand extreme weather conditions while maximizing energy output, the foldable roof can retract during storms, expand during optimal sunlight, and even adjust its angle automatically throughout the day.
