In a landmark moment for sustainable agriculture and food security, the Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, officially inaugurated the Mleiha Dairy Factory, which has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest A2A2 cow farm. The achievement places Sharjah at the forefront of innovative and health-focused dairy production on a global scale.
The Mleiha Dairy Farm is home to thousands of A2A2 cows, a special breed known for producing milk that contains only the A2 beta-casein protein. A2A2 milk is widely regarded as easier to digest and increasingly popular among health-conscious consumers, making the project a significant step toward meeting modern nutritional demands.
Guinness World Records officials verified the scale of the farm, including the number of certified A2A2 cows and the integrated production facilities, confirming it as the largest A2A2 cow farm in the world. The recognition highlights not only its size but also its advanced management systems, animal welfare standards, and sustainable farming practices.
During the inauguration, Sheikh Dr Sultan emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency and sustainable development in the UAE. The Mleiha Dairy Factory is designed as a fully integrated operation, covering the entire process from cattle rearing and milk production to processing, packaging, and distribution—all within Sharjah.
The facility uses cutting-edge technology, including climate-controlled barns, automated milking systems, and eco-friendly water and energy management solutions. These innovations ensure high productivity while maintaining animal health and reducing environmental impact in the region’s challenging climate.
Officials stated that the project will significantly boost local dairy production, reduce reliance on imports, and create employment opportunities, while also supporting research and innovation in agricultural sciences. The factory is expected to supply fresh A2A2 milk and dairy products across the UAE.
As the Mleiha Dairy Factory officially enters the Guinness World Records, the achievement stands as a symbol of Sharjah’s commitment to sustainability, food security, and forward-thinking agriculture, setting a new global benchmark for health-focused dairy farming.
