India Makes History at Inaugural Kho-Kho World Cup 2025

The first-ever Kho-Kho World Cup 2025 unfolded from 13 to 19 January 2025 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, drawing 20 men’s teams and 19 women’s teams from across the globe to compete in the sport’s historic inaugural global tournament. In a spectacular showcase of speed, strategy and teamwork, India’s men’s kho-kho team clinched the title, defeating Nepal 54–36 in the final to become the first men’s world champions of the sport.

The Indian women’s team also etched their names in the history books, dominating Nepal with a convincing 78–40 victory in their final and lifting the inaugural women’s trophy. From the opening whistle to the final buzzer, Indian teams displayed unwavering determination, tactical brilliance and youthful energy, turning packed stadium roars into historic memories and asserting India’s supremacy in the traditional game on the world stage.

This landmark event has not only crowned the first world champions in kho-kho but also taken India’s beloved street and schoolyard sport to a global competitive platform, fulfilling a long-held dream of players and fans alike.
