In a breathtaking display of courage, endurance, and unwavering passion, a bungee-jumping enthusiast from Queenstown, New Zealand, has officially entered the record books after completing more than 2,000 bungee jumps, earning two remarkable world records.
Thirty-four-year-old adrenaline lover Mark Thompson has been a familiar face at the iconic Kawarau Bridge Bungy site for over a decade. What began as a spontaneous thrill-seeking adventure eventually evolved into a lifelong obsession—one that has now propelled him to global recognition.
The first world record awarded to Thompson is for the Most Bungee Jumps Completed in a Lifetime by an Individual, a record previously held by a professional stunt performer. His second achievement, demonstrated over the last two years, is the Highest Number of Consecutive Bungee Jumps in a 24-Hour Period, during which he impressively completed 212 jumps without compromising safety standards.
Speaking to reporters after receiving official certification, Thompson described the achievement as a “dream come true,” explaining that bungee jumping has always been more than just a hobby.
“Every jump feels like the first one. The rush, the freedom, the moment in mid-air—it’s addictive. I wanted to show the world what passion and persistence can accomplish,” he shared.
Local tourism officials praised Thompson’s accomplishment, noting that his journey reflects both the adventurous spirit of New Zealand and the global fascination with extreme sports. His record-breaking stunts have already attracted international media attention, boosting Queenstown’s reputation as the adventure capital of the world.
Thompson plans to continue jumping, though he admits future world records are not his focus.
“I’ll keep doing what I love. If more records come, great. If not, I’m just happy to keep flying,” he said with a grin.
His story has inspired thrill-seekers worldwide, proving once again that passion, dedication, and a bit of fearlessness can turn any dream into history.
