In a groundbreaking move for personal air mobility, US startup Alef Aeronautics has announced that its Model A flying car has officially entered limited production, with real customer deliveries planned by 2026. This innovative vehicle promises the dual capability of road-legal driving and vertical electric flight, marking one of the most serious steps toward commercially viable flying cars.
Priced at approximately $300,000, the Model A is designed to drive on public roads, fit into standard parking spaces, and take off vertically using body-integrated propellers. On a single charge, it offers about 110 miles of driving range and an additional 110 miles of flight range, making it a versatile option for both daily commuting and short aerial travel.
The vehicle’s structure is crafted from carbon fiber, combining lightweight efficiency with strength, while FAA-approved testing status ensures it meets regulatory standards for safety and performance. Although this development represents a significant leap in personal aviation, widespread adoption will depend on airspace regulations, safety rules, and operational reliability.
