In a spectacular celebration of music and timeless melody, a group of talented singers from Mangaluru has set a new world record by performing a 40-hour nonstop tribute to legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar. The marathon musical homage, filled with nostalgia, passion, and incredible stamina, has now etched its name into global record books.
The event, organised by a local musical fraternity and held at a packed cultural auditorium, featured over two dozen vocalists who took turns singing Kishore Kumar’s greatest hits—spanning romantic classics, soulful ballads, boisterous duets, and evergreen Bollywood anthems.
The tribute began at dawn and continued through two nights without a single break, as singers flawlessly delivered more than 400 Kishore Kumar songs. From “Roop Tera Mastana” to “Khaike Paan Banaraswala,” the performers recreated the magic of the golden era of Indian cinema.
Organisers ensured continuous transitions, medical supervision, and strict adherence to world-record guidelines. Adjudicators verified timing, song count, and uninterrupted performance to confirm the record attempt.
A Tribute to a Legend Participants said the event was not just about breaking records, but honouring a musical giant who shaped generations with his iconic voice. Local singer and lead organiser Shashank Rao expressed: “Kishore Da’s voice is immortal. This tribute is our heartfelt offering to a man who lives in every Indian’s playlist.”
Music lovers, fans, and senior artists from across the region attended the event, while thousands more joined through live-streams. Messages of appreciation poured in from celebrities, musicians, and Kishore Kumar fan clubs worldwide.
