In a historic moment at Expo 2025 Osaka, luxury tea house JANAT Paris unveiled a groundbreaking creation that has officially entered the Guinness World Records: the world’s most expensive microbiome-enhanced Black Tea.
The exclusive blend, developed through advanced fermentation technology and rare botanical infusions, was introduced at JANAT’s Pavilion during a special ceremony attended by global tea experts, nutrition researchers, and international delegates. The tea was valued at an astonishing USD 28,000 per kilogram, setting a new global benchmark for speciality.
According to JANAT Paris, the tea is enriched with beneficial microbiome cultures designed to support gut health while preserving the traditional aroma and richness of premium black tea leaves sourced from secret high-altitude estates.
Guinness World Records officials verified the achievement on-site, noting its unique combination of scientific innovation, rarity of ingredients, and luxury craftsmanship.
“We wanted to merge French artisanal tea heritage with modern health science. This creation represents wellness, luxury, and innovation in perfect harmony,” said Marie Janat, Creative Director at JANAT Paris.
Visitors at Expo 2025 Osaka were given limited tasting opportunities, leading to long queues outside the pavilion. Many described the tea’s flavour profile as “floral, deep, and extraordinarily smooth,” with a distinct fermented complexity.
The record-setting tea has already attracted global interest from collectors, wellness brands, and high-end hospitality groups seeking exclusive offerings.
With this achievement, JANAT Paris has strengthened its reputation as a pioneer in luxury tea innovation, while adding a touch of French elegance to one of the world’s largest international expos.
