In a landmark stride toward India’s clean-energy transformation, the Adani Group has announced the development of a massive 1,126 MW / 3,530 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Khavda — the largest such installation in the country to date.
This groundbreaking project will work in tandem with the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, one of the world’s biggest upcoming solar-wind hybrid parks, enabling round-the-clock clean power supply. By storing surplus solar and wind energy generated during peak production hours, the BESS ensures a stable, reliable, and uninterrupted supply of green electricity even after sunset.
Company officials stated that the advanced storage system represents a major leap forward in India’s quest for energy independence, particularly as the nation accelerates efforts to integrate large volumes of renewable energy into the power grid.
“Khavda will become the heartbeat of India’s green energy future,” an Adani spokesperson said. “This storage system is crucial for solving intermittency challenges and enabling a dependable, sustainable power ecosystem.”
The project is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting India’s national renewable energy targets, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and enhancing grid resilience during peak demand and unforeseen outages.
Energy experts have hailed the initiative as a milestone for India’s renewable sector, calling it a model for future large-scale storage solutions across the country.
With the Khavda BESS, the Adani Group continues to cement its position as a leader in renewable energy infrastructure — and pushes India one step closer to a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
