“Sufia Khan Creates World Record by Running 4,035 Km Across India in 87 Days”

Ultra runner Sufiya Khan, a resident of Ajmer city, has once again brought national recognition to Rajasthan by officially setting a Guinness World Record for the fastest female to traverse the entire length of India on foot.

Sufiya completed the monumental “Kashmir to Kanyakumari” (K2K) expedition, covering an approximate distance of 4,035 kilometers in a stunning 87 days, 2 hours, and 17 minutes.

Starting her journey from Srinagar in Kashmir on April 25, 2019, the endurance athlete pushed her limits, maintaining an average of over 46 kilometers per day, often facing extreme weather conditions and challenging terrains before reaching Kanyakumari on July 21, 2019.

The run, which Sufiya titled ‘Run for HOPE’ (Humanity, Oneness, Peace, and Equality), was not just a test of physical endurance but a mission to spread a message of positivity and unity across the nation.

Sufiya, a self-taught runner who quit her decade-long job in the aviation industry to pursue her passion, has become an inspiration for aspiring athletes nationwide. Her achievement adds another prestigious feather to her cap, joining her other Guinness World Record for the fastest woman to complete the Golden Quadrilateral highway circuit (6,002 km).

“This journey was one of the most physically and mentally demanding challenges of my life,” said Sufiya Khan. “There were moments of severe difficulty, including health setbacks, but the goal of connecting with people across India and carrying my message of hope kept me going. I am immensely proud to have achieved this milestone for my country and for all women.”

The record is a testament to the grit, determination, and exceptional physical capability of the Ajmer-born ultra runner, cementing her status as one of India’s foremost long-distance athletes.
