Guinness World Record superstar David Rush has once again broken an impressive record, successfully throwing a record-breaking number of water balloons in a chaotic three-minute blitz. Rush teamed up with a member of fellow YouTuber Josh Horton’s team to claim the title for the Most hits of a person with water balloons in three minutes (team).
The record-breaking duo achieved a total of 125 successful hits, smashing the previous record of 114.
The Wet and Wild Attempt
The stunt took place at Josh Horton’s studio in California, where Horton’s crew member, Carson Stalnaker, volunteered to endure the rapid-fire soaking. Stalnaker, wearing the protective gear of a good sport, became the human target for Rush’s precise throws.
Under the rules, only balloons that burst upon contact counted toward the final total.
“I started launching balloon after balloon while he moved around trying to get in position to pop as many as possible,” Rush detailed on his blog. “It was chaos in the best way.”
The result—a soggy studio and a triumphant new world record for the pair.
Promoting STEM Through Stunts:
This latest achievement is particularly significant, as it marks approximately Rush’s 300th Guinness World Record title. The serial record-breaker, a former electrical engineer with a degree from MIT, uses his creative stunts to promote education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Rush emphasized that the goal is always to inspire others: “Rush, known for his creativity and precision in record-breaking stunts, often uses his challenges to promote STEM education and perseverance — proving once again that with focus and fun, even water balloons can make history.”
With his portfolio of records continually growing, David Rush remains one of the world’s most fascinating figures, turning everyday objects like water balloons into tools for inspiring a growth mindset and scientific curiosity.
