More than 1,400 people from across the globe joined a single video lesson to successfully set a new Guinness World Record for the most users in a mental health awareness video lesson.
The landmark event, which took place on World Mental Health Day (October 10, 2025), was spearheaded by Hull College in collaboration with local businesses, including medical technology company Smith & Nephew, digital experts Think Cloud, and training providers Think Mental Health.
The online session attracted a massive turnout, with participants joining from numerous countries including the US, Canada, Mexico, India, China, and across Europe. While over 1,400 people were involved at one point, Guinness World Records confirmed 916 verified participants, officially surpassing the previous record of 770.
The hour-long lesson was designed to encourage open conversation, challenge the stigma around mental health, and provide practical strategies for maintaining good wellbeing.
Debra Gray, the Principal and CEO of Hull College, emphasized the power of the initiative.
“We are incredibly proud that this world record was set right here in Hull,” she stated. “Mental health matters to all of us, and this initiative highlights how powerful collective action can be in creating positive change.”
Paul Longley, the founder of Think Mental Health, echoed this sentiment, calling the record a “message to the world.”
“When we come together to talk about mental health, we break down barriers and show that no one has to face their struggles alone,” he added. The global participation puts Hull at the forefront of an international campaign for wellbeing.
