Hero Cycles and WPP Media Set Guinness World Record with ‘Har Gully Hero’ Campaign

In a landmark achievement promoting outdoor play and community engagement, Hero Cycles and WPP Media have entered the Guinness World Records for organising the “Largest Online Video Album of People Riding Bicycles.”

The record was set as part of the nationwide campaign “Har Gully Hero,” which brought together over 5,800 verified cycling videos from 23 cities across India, reaching more than 1.6 million people. The initiative was designed to rekindle the culture of cycling and outdoor play among children and communities across the country.

Developed in collaboration with RED FM 93.5, the campaign aimed to make cycling a fun, accessible, and popular activity once again for children aged 6 to 14 years. Schools, Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs), and cricket academies participated in on-ground events that encouraged physical activity and community involvement.

To further drive excitement, Hero Cycles launched limited-edition co-branded bicycles in partnership with Indian Premier League (IPL) teams Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals. RED FM amplified the campaign through radio segments, digital initiatives, and live events featuring popular radio jockeys, boosting participation nationwide.

The campaign’s central theme addressed the growing concern of declining outdoor activity among children due to increased screen time, positioning Har Gully Hero as both a fitness movement and a cultural revival of India’s street sport heritage.

Pallavi Gupta, Head of Marketing, Hero Cycles, said:
“At Hero Cycles, we’ve always believed cycling is more than just mobility—it’s a movement. With Har Gully Hero, our vision was to bring back the joy of outdoor play, especially for children growing up in a digital era. Setting a Guinness World Record is a proud milestone, but what truly matters is the impact on communities across India. This is just the beginning of a movement towards a fitter, more active nation.”

Ashwin Padmanabhan, Chief Operating Officer, WPP Media South Asia, added:
“Har Gully Hero is more than a campaign—it’s a cultural revival. It celebrates India’s street sport spirit and reminds us to bring movement back into children’s lives. The Guinness World Record recognition highlights the power of purposeful storytelling at scale.”

Through Har Gully Hero, Hero Cycles and WPP Media have successfully transformed a simple act of cycling into a nationwide movement—reviving community spirit, inspiring young riders, and reaffirming India’s love for the outdoors.
