In an inspiring display of beauty, intellect, and patriotic fervor, Kashish Methwani, who was crowned Miss International India 2023, has successfully traded the glamour of the stage for the rigorous service of the nation, being commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army.
The 24-year-old Pune native, who hails from the Sindhi community, was commissioned into the Army’s Air Defence Regiment on September 6, 2025, following 11 months of intensive training at the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
Lieutenant Methwani’s journey is one of remarkable transition. An integrated Master’s degree holder in Biotechnology with a neuroscience thesis from IISc, Bengaluru, she secured an impressive All India Rank 2 in the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination in 2024, choosing the path of the uniform over a promising academic career, which included a PhD offer from Harvard University.
“The crown gave me recognition, but the uniform gives me purpose,” Lt. Methwani stated, emphasizing that her true calling was ignited during her time in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), where she received the ‘Best Cadet’ award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Her commitment was evident during her OTA training, where she excelled, earning the prestigious AAD Medal for the highest order of merit in Army Air Defence and multiple distinctions in shooting and drill, demonstrating that her dedication to service is as profound as her previous pursuits.
Lieutenant Kashish Methwani’s story resonates as a powerful example of ‘Nari Shakti’ (Woman Power), embodying the new generation of Indian women who are fearless in pursuing diverse fields and placing national pride above all else.
