Austrian Surfer Max Neubock Smashes Guinness World Record

Austrian surfer Maximilian Neubock has etched his name into the record books, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest time spent surfing a wave with an astonishing ride lasting 8 hours, 5 minutes, and 44 seconds.

Neubock achieved the incredible feat at River Wave, a man-made wave facility in Ebensee, Austria, which utilizes river currents to generate a continuous, stationary surfing wave. The marathon session tested the limits of human endurance and balance, lasting twice as long as the previous record.

Throughout the eight-hour ordeal, Neubock demonstrated remarkable focus, never once stepping off his board. To maintain his energy during the thigh-burning ride, the dedicated surfer was even filmed performing the unthinkable: eating a cup of soup with a spoon while actively surfing!

The record-breaking time comprehensively shattered the previous benchmark of 3 hours, 55 minutes, and 2 seconds, which was set by Panama’s Gary Saavedra.

Neubock concluded his epic attempt by gracefully steering his board to the dock before sliding into the water, where he was met with thunderous cheers from the spectators and organisers.

The achievement not only showcases Neubock’s exceptional endurance and balance but also marks a significant milestone for Austria’s growing, landlocked surf community, proving that the passion for surfing is boundless, even far from the ocean.
