Telangana Targets Guinness World Record with 51-Foot Bathukamma Floral Celebration

The Telangana government is gearing up for a spectacular world record attempt as part of this year’s Bathukamma festivities. The state’s tourism department has announced plans to gather over 10,000 women at one place with the tallest floral decoration ever, a unique effort aimed at securing a Guinness World Record.

The record-breaking event will be the centerpiece of the nine-day floral festival, taking place on September 28 at the LB Stadium in Hyderabad. The highlight will be a majestic Bathukamma floral decoration standing at a staggering 51 feet, a height that officials hope will set a new world standard.

With a strong focus on promoting Telangana’s cultural heritage to a global audience, the government has lined up a series of initiatives from September 21 to 30. The festivities are set to kick off at the historic Thousand Pillars temple in Warangal, where Minister for Tourism Jupally Krishna Rao and other women ministers will officially launch the celebrations.

Other key events include a grand floral parade and a ‘Bathukamma Carnival’ at Tank Bund on September 27, which will set the stage for the record attempt. The government is also planning to display Bathukamma replicas at traffic junctions and illuminate major roads and buildings to create a festive atmosphere across the state.

The initiative is a significant effort to showcase Telangana’s unique festival, which celebrates the state’s spirit and the worship of flowers, and to position it as a world-class cultural event that attracts international tourism.
