“World’s Most Detailed LEGO® City Stuns with Dinosaurs, Airports & More”

What began as a fun anniversary project has officially entered the record books, as LEGOLAND Deutschland has claimed the Guinness World Records title for the largest LEGO® city in the world. The massive, sprawling creation, which includes suburbs, an airport, and even a dinosaur park, was built with the help of over 2,800 park visitors.

The record was set in September 2022 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the theme park in Günzburg, Germany. The challenge, which was organized in partnership with the LEGO Group, saw thousands of creative park guests work diligently over 14 days to build a city on a scale never before seen.

The final city contained 1,566 houses, far exceeding the initial goal of 500, and was connected by more than 1,000 street elements. The enormous diorama was not just a collection of buildings; it was a vibrant world filled with details such as a beach, an airport, construction cranes, and a tree-filled countryside, all crafted from countless LEGO® bricks.

According to the German Record Institute, the project surpassed its initial planned area of 100 square meters. The final result was a testament to the teamwork and passion of both the builders and the park staff.

“To see how well the project was received here in the park and how many visitors diligently built along is great!” said Manuela Stone, LEGOLAND Deutschland Divisional Director. “It’s awesome that we have set another LEGO world record in our 20th anniversary year.”

This record-breaking city now stands as a permanent exhibition at LEGOLAND Deutschland, inspiring visitors with its sheer size and intricate detail, and proving that with a little creativity and a lot of teamwork, anything can be built with LEGO® bricks.
