World’s Largest Margarita Mixed in Mexico with Over 34,000 Litres

In a spectacular and a celebratory event, the city of Tijuana has officially taken back the Guinness World Record for the largest margarita. On July 11th, a gigantic, bright green margarita glass was filled with a staggering 34,419.4 litres (7,579.7 imperial gallons) of the classic cocktail, a feat achieved to celebrate the city’s 136th anniversary.

The massive project was led by Faviola Partida Dunn, owner of the local tequila brand Tequila Cachanilla. Dunn, who had been planning the event for years, brought together a team of 142 gastronomy students, government officials, and local businesses to make the dream a reality. The event was held at the Hipódromo Caliente, an iconic Tijuana venue with historic ties to tourism and entertainment.

The effort, which took over 10 hours, involved hundreds of volunteers who formed a human chain to pour ingredients into the custom-built, 40,000-litre refrigerated container. The final concoction was large enough to create over 38,000 individual cocktails. This monumental achievement not only brought the record back to the city credited with inventing the margarita but also served as a powerful lesson in community and collaboration.
