TN Woman Donates Half of Milk Bank’s Supply, Rescues Thousands of Newborns

In an extraordinary act of compassion, a homemaker from Tamil Nadu has donated more than 300 litres of breast milk over the span of just 22 months, becoming a lifesaver for thousands of premature and critically ill newborns.

Her contribution accounts for nearly half of the total collection at the regional human milk bank, making her one of the largest individual breast milk donors in the country.

Doctors and hospital staff hailed her as a silent hero whose selfless act has directly contributed to reducing infant mortality rates. The donated milk has nourished low birth weight, undernourished, and preterm babies, many of whom were unable to be breastfed due to medical complications or maternal issues.

“She has shown us that motherhood knows no boundaries,” said Dr. Priya Narayanan, head of the neonatal unit. “Her donation has given countless babies a fighting chance at life.”

Despite her quiet life as a homemaker, her determination to help infants she may never meet has inspired healthcare professionals and new mothers alike. Her identity remains confidential at her request, emphasizing that her mission was never about recognition—but about saving lives.

This heartwarming act highlights the growing importance of breast milk donation and the life-saving role played by human milk banks across India.
