“Thiruvananthapuram’s 7,000+ Students Set World Record with Mega Seed Ball Drive”

In a remarkable display of community spirit and environmental commitment, the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation’s seed ball-making campaign at Putharikandam Maidan on Saturday morning has secured a place in the World Book of Records.

The event, part of the city’s broader environmental protection initiatives, initially aimed to involve 6,000 participants but exceeded expectations with the enthusiastic participation of over 7,000 students.

Armed with clay, compost, and native seeds, students worked together to create thousands of seed balls, which will later be scattered in deforested and barren areas to promote natural reforestation.

City officials praised the unprecedented turnout, noting that the effort not only set a world record but also instilled a sense of eco-consciousness and civic responsibility among the younger generation.

“This is more than just a record — it’s a statement that Thiruvananthapuram’s youth are ready to take the lead in protecting our planet,” said a corporation spokesperson.

The initiative forms part of an ongoing series of green drives aimed at increasing tree cover, improving biodiversity, and combating climate change in Kerala’s capital city.
