The record was officially achieved on July 22, 2022, on the same day the venue, operated by 3rd Planet Co. Ltd., reopened after a major renovation. The arcade is located on the 6th floor of Northport Mall, in the Tsuzuki-ku district of Yokohama, and has quickly become a pilgrimage site for fans of the game from all over the world.
“We wanted to create a space that would make our customers smile and offer an unparalleled gaming experience,” said a representative from 3rd Planet. “The record is a testament to our dedication to the art of the claw game.”
Sarpura Yokohama Asobi Town is not just about the sheer number of machines. The arcade features a “Crane Game Shopping Street” with a wide variety of prizes, from popular stuffed toys and anime figurines to household goods and even gourmet food items. While a previous record for the most claw machines was set by SEGA in Shinjuku with 477 machines, Sarpura Yokohama Asobi Town’s new record of 555 machines has solidified its place as the undisputed capital of claw crane games.
