Microsoft Launches AI Skills Fest with Record-Breaking Global Learning Challenge

In a landmark event that blended technology with human ingenuity, Microsoft Corporation has successfully secured a Guinness World Records title, proving that learning can be both fun and historic. On April 8, 2025, the company’s inaugural AI Skills Fest set the record for the most users to take a multi-level online artificial intelligence lesson in 24 hours, with an astounding 126,151 participants.

The event, which was part of a 50-day global initiative to promote AI education, brought together a diverse audience of students, business professionals, and tech enthusiasts from around the world. Participants engaged in a series of multi-level online lessons covering topics from simplifying everyday tasks with AI to building AI agents in GitHub Copilot. To qualify for the record, each participant had to complete a training session and pass a series of questions to demonstrate engagement.

The achievement shattered the previous record of 46,045 participants, which was set in 2024 by GUVI Geek Network Private Limited and the Government of Uttar Pradesh in India. For Microsoft, the record was more than just a number; it was a testament to the company’s commitment to making AI skills accessible to everyone.

“We’re honored to have earned this record title as part of the Microsoft AI Skills Fest!” said Jeana Jorgensen, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Learning. “The record is a tribute to every person who is investing their time and energy to learn a new AI skill or help others build their AI expertise.”

The AI Skills Fest, which continues through May 28, 2025, offers a wide range of learning experiences, including live workshops, on-demand tutorials, and community events. Microsoft’s record-breaking kickoff not only made history but also highlighted the growing global demand for AI literacy and the power of a collective pursuit of knowledge.
