Liu Weiqiang Lifts Record 319 lbs With One Finger, Sets Guinness World Record

A Chinese fitness influencer has shattered a world record with an extraordinary display of strength, proving that when it comes to lifting, the middle finger can be mightier than the whole hand. Liu Weiqiang officially set the Guinness World Record for the heaviest deadlift with one finger, hoisting a staggering 319.05 lbs (144.72 kg) with just his middle digit.

The record-breaking feat, which was meticulously documented and certified, took place on February 28, 2025, in Hangzhou. The lift not only earned him a spot in the record books but also broke the previous record of 306.9 lbs (139.2 kg), set by Armenian strongman Harutyun Mesropyan in 2023.

Liu, who has cultivated a large online following as a fitness coach and influencer, is no stranger to unique strength challenges. His dedication to training has focused on building immense grip and tendon strength, which was evident in the successful lift. The sheer weight of the deadlift—more than his own body weight—required a specialized bar with a narrow, hook-like grip to accommodate a single finger.

Following the lift, Liu expressed his joy and pride in his accomplishment. “I am very happy to set this record,” he said. “It is the result of years of hard work and dedication. I hope it can inspire more people to pursue their dreams, no matter how difficult they may seem.”

The record is a powerful reminder that strength comes in many forms and that with focused training and perseverance, even the most unconventional goals can be achieved. It has also cemented Liu Weiqiang’s reputation as a true force in the world of fitness.
