A popular Japanese anime series has captured the hearts of fans and a new world record with an extraordinary, non-stop declaration of love. The series, titled Kimi no koto ga Dai Dai Dai Dai Daisuki na Hyaku-nin no Kanojo (The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You), has achieved a Guinness World Records title for the longest monologue in a Japanese animation.
The record-breaking scene, which appeared in the final episode of Season 2, was a passionate and incredibly detailed speech delivered by the protagonist, Rentaro Aijo. The monologue, which was 7,453 characters long—equivalent to around 3,000 words—was a heartfelt expression of love to the 11 girlfriends in his life. The sheer volume of dialogue created a huge buzz among fans when the episode first aired in July 2025.
The premise of the rom-com/parody anime follows high school student Rentaro after he fails to find a girlfriend 100 times. A god of love tells him he is destined to meet 100 soulmates, but if he doesn’t love and accept each one, he will meet a terrible fate.
The record was certified in August 2025, validating a scene that not only moved the series’ plot forward but also became one of its most memorable moments. The monologue’s delivery by voice actor Wataru Kato required immense stamina and emotional range.
“It was a huge challenge, but I wanted to do justice to Rentaro’s love for his girlfriends,” Kato said in a post-recording interview. “This monologue is the heart of the show.”
This unique record highlights the creativity and dedication of the anime industry, proving that even a single scene can make history and capture the world’s attention.
