Egypt has announced plans to construct a monumental skyscraper that will rise to a height of 1,000 meters (1 km), aiming to surpass the Burj Khalifa and claim the title of the world’s tallest building.
Dubbed the “Oblisco Capitale Tower”, this architectural marvel will be located in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo. Inspired by the ancient Egyptian obelisk, the skyscraper is a symbol of national pride and ambition, blending futuristic design with historical significance.
The project is part of Egypt’s massive urban expansion initiative, and when completed, it will feature luxury residences, office spaces, hotels, and observatories — all in a single vertical city structure. It is also expected to become a global tourist magnet and a new icon for the Middle East.
With an estimated cost of over $3 billion, the tower is being developed with the support of international engineering firms and sustainability experts. The construction timeline has yet to be finalized, but groundwork has already begun.
If successful, the tower will dethrone Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which currently stands at 828 meters, holding the record since 2010.
The race for the sky is officially back on — and Egypt just raised the bar.
