Rohan Ramchandra Bahir, a courageous young boy from Maharashtra, has been conferred the prestigious Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 in the category of Bravery, honoring his fearless act that saved lives and inspired a community.
Rohan, a resident of a small town in Maharashtra, displayed extraordinary presence of mind and courage when he risked his own safety to rescue three children from a fire that broke out in his neighborhood. Despite the danger, he acted swiftly, alerting elders and pulling the children to safety before help arrived. His quick thinking prevented a major tragedy and earned widespread admiration.
Recognizing his valour, the Government of India presented Rohan with the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the Hon’ble President of India personally handed over the award. The recognition includes a medal, certificate, and cash prize.
In a humble statement after receiving the award, Rohan said, “I didn’t think twice—I just wanted to help. I believe anyone in my place would have done the same.”
