In recognition of a life dedicated to the upliftment of the underprivileged, the Government of India has conferred the prestigious Padma Shri on Shri Shankar Baba Pundlikrao Papalkar from Maharashtra for his outstanding contribution to the field of Social Work.
A tireless crusader for rural development and social justice, Shri Shankar Baba has spent decades working for the welfare of marginalized communities in Maharashtra. His efforts have transformed countless lives through initiatives focused on education, rural healthcare, women’s empowerment, tribal welfare, and sustainable development.
Known for his humble lifestyle and grassroots activism, Shri Papalkar has established schools, health camps, and self-help programs in some of the most remote and neglected areas of the state. His approach has always been people-centric, promoting self-reliance and dignity among the poor and voiceless.
