In a moment of pride for the people of Mizoram and the nation, the Government of India has conferred the Padma Shri on Shri Sangthankima for his outstanding and selfless contribution to Social Work.
Founder of Thutak Nunpuitu Team (TNT) — the largest charitable organization in Mizoram — Shri Sangthankima has dedicated his life to the care and rehabilitation of the most vulnerable: orphans, the destitute, the mentally ill, drug addicts, and alcoholics. What began in 1988 as a humble initiative with a single patient has today grown into a sanctuary of healing, hope, and dignity for thousands.
Under his compassionate leadership, TNT offers shelter, food, medical care, vocational training, and spiritual guidance to those abandoned by society. His work transcends religion, caste, and background — embodying pure humanitarianism rooted in love and service.
Shri Sangthankima has also played a pivotal role in anti-drug campaigns, youth reformation, and community outreach, becoming a beacon of hope in a region deeply affected by substance abuse and poverty.
Reacting to the honour, he said, “This award belongs to all the people who found new life and purpose through love. I only did what I felt was right.”
Citizens, civil society groups, and leaders from across Mizoram and India have hailed the recognition, calling him a “silent hero of the North-East” and “a living example of compassion in action.”
By conferring the Padma Shri on Shri Sangthankima, the nation salutes a man whose life’s mission is to restore humanity where it is most needed.
