Shri Kiran Vyas from France Conferred Padma Shri for Promoting Yoga and Indian Philosophy Globally

Recognizing his unwavering dedication to promoting Yoga, Ayurveda, and Indian philosophy across the world, the Government of India has conferred the Padma Shri on Shri Kiran Vyas, based in France, under the category of Others – Yoga.

Shri Vyas, a prominent figure in Europe’s wellness and spiritual education landscape, is the founder of Tapovan, a renowned Ayurvedic and yoga retreat centre in Normandy, France. For over four decades, he has served as a bridge between Indian spiritual traditions and Western wellness seekers, helping thousands embrace holistic health through authentic Indian practices.

Trained in the classical Indian yogic tradition and deeply inspired by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, Shri Vyas introduced structured yoga and Ayurveda education to French-speaking audiences. His retreat centre has become a hub for yoga, meditation, Ayurveda therapy, Sanskrit study, and Indian cultural immersion.

“Yoga is not just exercise; it is a way of life that balances the body, mind, and spirit,” said Shri Vyas. “This honour is a recognition of India’s timeless wisdom that belongs to all of humanity.”

In addition to healing and wellness, Shri Vyas has also promoted environmental awareness, vegetarian living, and inner development through his workshops, lectures, and writings. His efforts have helped position India’s ancient wisdom as a credible and accessible global health practice.

Spiritual organizations, yoga federations, and Indian diaspora groups in Europe have warmly welcomed the announcement, calling it a fitting tribute to a life devoted to service, healing, and spiritual upliftment.

By awarding the Padma Shri to Shri Kiran Vyas, the nation acknowledges a global ambassador of India’s yogic and Ayurvedic heritage, whose work continues to inspire wellness worldwide.
