Veteran journalist and media leader Shri Hormusji N. Cama has been awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, in the category of Literature & Education – Journalism. The honour recognizes his decades-long contribution to ethical journalism, media reform, and press freedom in India.
Shri Cama is a prominent figure in India’s media landscape, serving as the Director of Bombay Samachar, Asia’s oldest continuously published newspaper. Under his leadership, the publication has upheld a legacy of credible, balanced, and community-focused journalism for generations.
He has also been an active voice in several press councils and regulatory bodies, advocating for journalistic integrity, press freedom, and responsible media governance.
As a former Chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) and a member of the Press Council of India, Shri Cama has worked tirelessly to protect editorial independence and ensure accurate reporting standards. His efforts have strengthened media institutions in India and provided a steady voice for journalistic ethics in a fast-changing digital landscape.
