In a breathtaking display of physical and spiritual endurance, 30-year-old Sandeep from Gujarat has set a new world record by performing an astonishing 20,000 Surya Namaskars non-stop over 37 consecutive hours at an event held in Motera.
The marathon feat has earned Sandeep a place in several prestigious record books, including the USA Book of Records and the London Book of Records. His exceptional discipline and devotion to yoga even drew a congratulatory message from the office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who lauded his contribution to India’s yogic legacy.
Sandeep’s story is one of perseverance, passion, and deep personal resilience. He began practicing yoga at the age of 10—coincidentally the same year he lost his mother. Inspired by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, he turned his grief into a lifelong commitment to spiritual and physical well-being through yoga.
Over the last 15 years, Sandeep has progressively tested his limits:
- In 2018, he completed 5,000 Surya Namaskars
- In a later attempt, he performed 15,000
- And now, he has reached the extraordinary milestone of 20,000 Surya Namaskars, setting a global benchmark in the field of yogic endurance
Witnesses at the Motera venue were left awestruck as Sandeep performed each round with remarkable consistency and calm. The event drew yoga enthusiasts, medical observers, and international media, all eager to witness a moment of yogic history.
Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutation, is a foundational sequence in traditional yoga, blending physical postures, breathing, and meditation. Completing even 108 rounds is considered a powerful achievement—Sandeep’s 20,000 is nothing short of extraordinary.
“This is not just a record, it’s a tribute to my mother, my gurus, and to the power of yoga,” Sandeep said after achieving the milestone, his voice filled with emotion.
