In a landmark moment for Indian corporate leadership, Priya Nair has been appointed as the first woman CEO and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), one of India’s largest and most influential consumer goods companies.
Set to assume office on August 1, 2025, Nair will succeed Rohit Jawa, who steps down after completing his two-year tenure. Her appointment marks a new chapter in HUL’s 92-year legacy, reflecting the company’s growing commitment to diverse, inclusive, and future-forward leadership.
Priya Nair, a seasoned Unilever veteran, brings with her nearly three decades of experience across key roles in India and globally. She has previously served as Executive Director for Home Care and Beauty & Personal Care in India, and most recently, she held the role of President, Beauty & Wellbeing at Unilever Global.
In a statement, Nitin Paranjpe, Chairman of HUL, said:
“Priya has a deep understanding of consumer needs and has led some of our most impactful brand transformations. Her appointment is a proud and defining moment for HUL.”
Under her leadership, HUL is expected to focus on premiumisation, digital transformation, sustainable growth, and purpose-led innovation—areas where Nair has already left an impressive mark.
Industry experts have hailed her appointment as a milestone for gender equality in corporate India, and a powerful message of trust in homegrown leadership. Following the announcement, HUL shares saw a notable uptick, signaling strong investor confidence in her vision.
As she prepares to lead one of India’s most iconic companies, Priya Nair stands not only as a trailblazer for women in business—but as a symbol of transformation, resilience, and the evolving face of Indian leadership.
