Nepali Aerospace Engineer Sunil Khadka Sets New World Record with 32 Clap Pull-ups in a Minute

KATHMANDU, NEPAL – July 23, 2025 – Sunil Khadka, a 25-year-old aerospace engineering graduate from Pulchowk Campus, has powerfully asserted Nepal’s athletic prowess on the global stage by setting a new Guinness World Record. Khadka successfully completed an astounding 32 clap pull-ups in one minute, officially breaking the previous record.

His remarkable achievement was officiated on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the callisthenics world. Khadka surpassed the longstanding record of 30 repetitions, which was set by America’s Blake Austin back in 2015.

During a press meet in Kathmandu, Khadka shared his elation and the patriotic spirit behind his endeavor. “It wasn’t just about breaking a record—it was about showing that Nepali athletes are second to none,” he stated, emphasizing his dedication to bringing global recognition to his country.

According to Guinness World Record regulations for this category, participants must keep their feet off the ground throughout the activity, and the palms of the hands must audibly touch for each clap pull-up to be counted towards the record total. Khadka demonstrated impeccable form and endurance to meet these stringent criteria.

Looking ahead, the newly crowned record holder has set his sights on even greater heights. Khadka announced his next ambitious goal: to win the Callisthenics World Championship, further aiming to “raise Nepal’s flag on the global stage.” His achievement serves as an inspiration, showcasing the incredible potential and determination within Nepal’s athletic community.
