In a bold move to boost tourism and showcase its diverse regional attractions, Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced an exciting offer: free domestic flights for all international travelers visiting Japan.
The initiative, part of a broader tourism revival campaign by the Japanese government and JAL, aims to encourage global visitors to explore beyond Tokyo and Kyoto — venturing into less-visited gems like Hokkaido, Okinawa, Fukuoka, and Hiroshima.
Starting this season, eligible international tourists arriving in Japan can book one round-trip domestic flight for free on select routes operated by Japan Airlines and its affiliates. Destinations include:
- Sapporo – for snow festivals and nature
- Okinawa – for tropical beaches
- Fukuoka – for culinary delights
- Hiroshima – for historic exploration
- Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Aomori – and many more hidden wonders
“We want travelers to see the entire beauty of Japan — not just the famous cities,” said a JAL spokesperson. “This initiative makes regional travel more accessible and affordable.”
Tourists must have confirmed international round-trip tickets to Japan and a valid passport. Once in Japan, travelers can register through the JAL website or participating tourism portals to claim their free domestic flight. Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This initiative not only supports international tourism but also helps revitalize Japan’s regional economies, many of which rely on domestic visitors. With the country’s goal of welcoming over 60 million tourists annually by 2030, this bold offer could make Japan even more appealing as a top global travel destination.
From sushi in Tokyo to cherry blossoms in Hirosaki — now, international travelers can explore Japan like never before, one free flight at a time.
